Jelena is from Novi Sad.
Cancer is her star sign. We were born on the same day, the 2nd of July. Same year. Many nice things happened on my birthday. My first girlfriend was born on that day, I went to New York for the first time, first time after the war I travelled to Sarajevo. My first day at work at International theatre festival happened exactly on my birthday. And eighteen years ago, France became the European football champion. They beat Italy in finals. That same day I passed admission tests for Architecture studies in Sarajevo. In October, I got my student ID card, and never came back.
Jelena is a very strong woman. She owns a design studio. With 21 employees! Out of them, nineteen are from ex Yugoslavia. They work tirelessly. They build. Towers in which everybody is happy. And speak the same language.
People think she’s complicated. Deep inside, she’s very simple. You “only” need to find your soulmate, someone you understand with only one look, one gesture. And the other way around. She reads books, train boxing. She’s brave like Princess Merida. And she runs a lot, like Lola. She’s passionate about Game of Thrones. I thought I knew everything about film and television. About this show especially. After long discussions, she left me embarrassed. That much that I took “extra hours” to learn. She knows every character by heart. And every word from the books. She describes them like Ariel would talk about her brand new, just magically gotten, legs. Breezy. Innocently. Enthusiastically.
Jelena plays a big role in my life. Like Melisandre. She got me back to life with her magical energy. And prepared me for the new beginning.
Aren’t I Jon Snow?
